Paramount Chief of Seikwa shot dead

430.270.1.1593552There is an uneasy calm at Seikwa in the Tain District of Brong-Ahafo Region following the assassination of Nana Kwaku Dwoma Ankoana, Omanhene of the town.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Asare Bediako, Berekum Municipal Police Commander who confirmed the story, said the Police had started investigations into the assassination.

Nana Ankoana was shot around 20:00 hours by unknown assassins on November 4 at his private residence at Seikwa.

According to an eye witness, the Omanhene was hit in the chest at close range and died instantly and reports said Seikwa was in a state of mourning with the youth wearing red armbands and chanted war songs.

The police have beefed up security in the town.

Speaking on a Sunyani-based radio station, Mr Joshua Baidoo, Registrar at the Seikwa Traditional Council, said before his assassination Nana Ankoana had received death threat messages on his MTN mobile phone.
