
The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) candidate in the Akwatia by-election, Bernard Bediako Baidoo has been elected as the Member of Parliament for Akwatia.
Bernard Baidoo polled 18,199 votes as against 15,235 votes of the NPP candidate, Solomon Asumadu.
The by-election which took place on September 2, 2025 was carried out at 119 polling stations with 33,518 valid voters cast.
The returning officer, Eric Gyamfi, who declared Mr Baidoo as Member of Parliament-elect said, “by the power vested in me, i hereby declare Bernard Bediako Baidoo as MP-elect.”

The by-election was necessitated by the death of the area’s lawmaker, Ernest Yaw Kumi. Mr Kumi died after short ilness.
