A helicopter crash-landed at Beposo in the Bosomtwi Constituency of the Ashanti Region this afternoon
The helicopter had eight people onboard including the pilot and his co-pilot – the majority are believed to be workers of Newmont Ghana. It was travelling from Kanyase to Accra.
A statement from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said the “precautionary landing” at Beposo, South West of Konongo in the Ashanti Region, followed “an engine malfunction.”
“The crew and passengers are safe,” the statement said.
The helicopter, according to the statement has the Call sign TUTHO and is being operated by the Volta River Aviation Limited.
The GCAA said it has “initiated an investigation into the incident.”
