How Movie Producers are contributing to excessive bleaching and killing the industry – Alex Osei hints

download (2)Promising star Alexander Osei has hinted www.233times.net how the Film Industry would be a haven if Movie Producers reorganize the monotonous pattern it has taken for years. In an interview with this medium, he made it known that, unless Producers and Directors give chance to new faces, the industry will be one way.

Unlike the Twi Speaking movies which gives more chances to new talents, the English speaking ones are very stingy on new talents, Alex lamented. “They produce new stars rapidly and also people buying their movies more than the English speaking ones. The English movie audience are tired of seeing the old faces” in his own words. “Our English movies are just glamour and they hardly tell our African stories.

This won’t help us because we can’t beat the westerners when it comes to glamour so it is better we hold unto our culture and project it” though not rooted in the industry, Alex advised. Eaves dropping on a conversation of some movie industry players, they made it known that, movies with cover images of light skinned stars sell more than those with dark skinned and the light skinned perform better than their opposite.

Asking Alex whether he shares the same sentiment, he made it known that he has heard about this so many times and truthfully, Producers mostly prefer light skinned Talents to dark skinned but “Is Denzel Washington fair? Is Prince David Osei fair? These are people doing amazing but are not fair. Most Africans are not proud of our colour so we turn to bleach and we call it toning and it is never true light skinned Acts perform better than dark skinned”

He further added that “there are some Acts in Ghana who don’t sell when you place them on covers but this same Acts sell when you place them on covers in Nigeria, USA and other countries” The Up and Coming Star made it known that he is looking beyond the shores of Ghana so he is doing his best to be recognized for movies of international status.
