From today: Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital begins charging more fees

images (2)Authorities at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital will from Monday begin charging more for the medical services they render to the general public.

This follows the approval of the Fees and Charges (Amendment) Instrument 2013 by Parliament last year.

Therefore, fees and charges of services provided by some government Ministries, Departments and Agencies including public hospitals has gone up by 200%.

The implementation of the new fee is likely to generate heated argument at the Hospital between patience and health personnel.

But the Public Relations Officer at the Hospital, Mustapha Salifu dismissed such assertion saying, enough educational campaigns have been put in place to avoid confrontations.

He expressed the hope that “with this public education, people will not be surprised at all at any rate that we will charge them…and they would have prepared themselves before coming.”
