Michael Essien passed extra tests, ready to sign $5.1m deal

download (1)We understand that while initial reports suggested Michael Essien failed an earlier Milan medical, he passed supplementary tests.

According to La Repubblica, the Ghana international failed tests related to an old anterior cruciate ligament injury.

After a couple of hours, new reports from Sky Sport Italia and the Corriere dello Sport maintained the Chelsea midfielder passed the second round of stress tests at the Milanello training ground.

He is expected to put pen to paper on Monday on a $5.1m deal that will last 18 months.

Essien arrived in Milan on Friday evening and had his medical on Saturday morning, but so far has still not signed the contract.
