Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi is a top target for Inter Milan coach Walter Mazzarri, according to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.
It is believed that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has told Mikel he can leave at the end of the season and Mazzarri is on the look out for a defensive midfielder, with the Nigeria international top on his list.
The 26-year-old star joined Chelsea in 2006 and has won every trophy in England with the Londoners, as well as the UEFA Champions League and Europa League crowns.
Barring any injuries, Mikel will be in the Nigerian squad to Brazil this summer where he is expected to be the driving force behind the team’s campaign.
Playing a slightly more advanced role in his national team, Mikel inspired Nigeria to a third Nations Cup title in 2013.
Nigerians are hoping he can rediscover the sublime attacking skills that made him famous, at a new club, after being forced to play in defensive midfield in his Chelsea career.
