We still stand by our publication; Daily Guide won’t apologize to Asiedu Nketia – Freddie Blay

images-freddie_blay_477320797-300x280The Chief Executive Officer of Western Publications Limited, owners of the Daily Guide Newspaper, Freddie Blay, has told Citi News, the paper will not render any apology to the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for publishing false information about him.

The paper was last week found liable for defaming Johnson Asiedu Nketiah in a publication suggesting he used his position as General Secretary of the governing party to enrich himself and his family members

The paper was directed to pay GHC 250,000 to Mr. Asiedu Nketia by the court.

Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Blay maintained the paper still stands by its publication.

He described the case as “one of the worst cases that I have come across. It’s so bad and I don’t believe that that thing should have gone to court and we refuse to render any apology.”

Mr. Blay revealed that his outfit will challenge the decision of the court saying, “we have appealed against it and I think that that judgement shouldn’t have gone the way it went.”
