President Mahama tours Western Region

President John Dramani Mahama begins a three-day working visit to the Western Region on Friday.

The visit is part of his regional tours that have already taken him to the Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Brong Ahafo, and Central Regions and as has characterised his earlier visits, the President would use the opportunity to thank the chiefs and people for voting for him in the December 2012 elections to become President.

Mr Mahama would also inspect ongoing development projects and commission completed ones, as well as address mini durbars to be held in his honour in some of the communities.

At durbars addressed in his regional tours so far, President Mahama took time to explain to the people the steps his government was taking to further the development of the nation.

As a President with a sentimental attachment to the development of agriculture, Mr Mahama has not hidden his agenda to support farmers to improve production through inputs supply and other incentives. And in the Western region, which is a major agrarian region, the President is expected to tell the farmers how his government intends to bring much life into their business.

Again, Mr Mahama is expected to make statements bordering on the development of the oil and gas industry, which has the Western Region as the epicentre of development.
