PNC’s Hassan Ayariga in court today

download (4)An Accra Fast Track High Court will on Monday, March 24, 2014 begin hearing the lawsuit brought against the Peoples National Convention (PNC) Treasurer, David Apasera by the party’s 2012 Presidential candidate, Mr. Hassan Ayariga.

Mr. Hassan Ayariga deemed it necessary suing Mr. David Apasera for alleged defamation of his character.

His decision was in reaction to claims by some members of the PNC including, Mr. David Apasera that Mr. Hassan Ayariga embezzled an amount GHC 1.6 million meant for the party’s 2012 campaign activities.

Angry Hassan Ayariga in his lawsuit is claiming exemplary damages of GHC 1 million.

He is also praying the court to restrain Mr. Apasera and his surrogates from further publishing falsehood in the mass media, which he considers defamatory to him.

The PNC Treasurer, Mr. David Apasera told Citi News he was unperturbed about Mr. Hassan Ayariga’s court action.

“I will be there and my counsel will be there; to the best of my knowledge, it’s  just time consuming, time wasting and even though it is going to waste my time I have to be there.”

Mr. Apasera was optimistic that he will be vindicated at the end of the legal tussle saying, “I expect to be vindicated and I believe that the court will find out that I have not committed any crime of such, as he claims.”
