Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to Ministers: Bring socio-economic progress

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged Ministers and other government officials to put the common good ahead of partisan interest and considerations.

He said they should work to unite the people and bring socio-economic progress.

He gave the advice when he received the out-going Ashanti Regional Minister, Eric Opoku and his successor, Samuel Sarpong, to his Manhyia Palace on Friday.

The Asantehene reminded them that it was not for nothing that the President took the decision to re-post them to their former places.

The President certainly might have achieved the purpose that informed their earlier reshuffle.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu praised the two for their performance and urged them to sustain their work-rate and continue providing open, dedicated and accountable leadership.

He encouraged the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives to cooperate and support the regional coordinating councils (RCCs) in the implementation of the regional development agenda.

The expectation was that the assemblies and the RCCs would pull together to transform the lives of the people – create jobs and wealth.

Mr Opoku said he was grateful to the Asantehene and the other chiefs in the region for the good counsel, understanding, support and encouragement they gave him.

He outlined a number of development achievements made, citing among them, the improvement of roads, provision of good drinking water, construction of schools and health infrastructure.
