“I’ll do the spiritual battle and challenge T.B. Joshua” Opambour to Bukom Banku (PHOTO)

3d3882da20ba38ec7e6866710dde8cc6_LThe spiritual warfare that seems to be engaging in shadow boxing ahead of the much-anticipated showdown between Braimah (Bukom Banku) Kamoko and Ayittey Powers has taken a new turn after Kumasi-based evangelist Rev. Dr Ebenezer Opambuor Adarkwa Yiadom prayed for Kamoko to fortify him spiritually for the big fight.

Yesterday, the charismatic Bukom Banku confirmed to the Graphic Sports that he had pitched camp with Rev Opambuor, also known as Prophet 1, following a surprise pilgrimage by the boxer and his manager to the Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre at Ahenema Kokoben near Kumasi, to meet Rev Opambuor, founder of the church.

It was an unusual spiritual marriage between the Bukom-based boxer, a devout muslim, and the controversial preacher and healer, who reportedly threw his weight behind the hard-hitting boxer ostensibly for a spiritual battle with the famous Nigerian evangelist, Temitope Balogun (TB) Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), who is said to be the ‘spiritual father’ of Powers.

“I will do the spiritual battle for you, and I would challenge T.B. Joshua spiritually, so you take care of the physical battle,” Rev Opambuar reportedly told Banku at his church last Sunday.

Kamoko’s manager, Abrahan Kotey Neequaye, also told the Graphic Sports yesterday that Rev Opambuor gave an assurance that he would fend off all spiritual machinations thrown by T.B. Joshua against his boxer.

“Opambuor promised to be at the Accra Stadium and be Bukom Banku’s number one fan on the day of the bout,” Mr Neequaye revealed.

The April 18 non-title bout was thrown into turmoil after Powers announced his refusal to fight on the sanctioned date or in April due to the advice of his spiritual father.

Yesterday, the Ghana Boxing Authority met with the fight promoter, the two boxers and their managers, as well as other key partners as the Accra Stadium in an effort to deal with issues arising out of the latest turn of events, and also to find a new date for the cruiserweight battle which is expected to be the biggest boxing showdown in Ghana in recent years.
