I rejected Liverpool, says Ghana midfielder Amartey

Ghanaian holding midfielder Daniel Amartey has revealed that a hand injury he sustained last year derailed his hopes of joining Liverpool.

The 19-year-old who features for Swedish side Djurgarden IF was constantly linked to the Merseyside club last year and was offered a trial for a possible signing but was forced to reject it.

“I was invited for a trial with the club and was supposed to go there,” Amartey told Expressen. “But I hurt my hand and was forced to reject it. It is truly a big club and it feels really flattering that they are interested.”

Amartey played 23 games for the Stockholm-based club last season as they finished 7th in the Swedish Allsvenskan.
