Ibrahim Mahama is not a gov’t official and Iran doesn’t speak for Ghana – Dep. Information Minister

4db039b9dd47e41b8cb6b9808c5e4234_LA Deputy Minister of Information, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has maintained that publications claiming that Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, CEO of Engineers and Planners (E&P) and brother of President John Mahama has led a government delegation to Iran cannot be true.

It is also not true that President Mahama ever travelled on the Bombardier aircraft embroiled in controversial media publications alleging it might have breached some protocols when it flew into Iran last week.

Engineers and Planners have since issued a statement dismissing the allegations that it flew its US-flagged aircraft into Iran without approval.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu said “Mr. Ibrahim Mahama is not a member of government, neither is he a government official of any sort. So it is not possible for him to have led a Ghanaian government delegation. Their statement is quite clear and straight to the point. The Ghana government has not sent any delegation to Iran on the plane that is in question, neither has President Mahama travelled on that plane to London, Davors or any other delegation for that matter. I cannot speak for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, and I believe that the Iranian Foreign Ministry also does not speak for the government of Ghana…”

Kwakye Ofosu who spoke to Joy News on Tuesday, expressed surprise why anyone keen on probing beyond what explanations E&P has provided would base their questions on what others may have said, especially Iranian officials.
