4 Nairobi University students in court over $9,500 theft

1feb61e35ae2b8e8c805f8e1d6563189_LFour University of Nairobi students were Tuesday charged with breaking into a colleague’s room and stealing cash and property valued at Sh812,000 (about US$9,500).

The court heard that Hillary Leakey, Kelvin Njagi, Gregory Mwangi and David Mwangi broke into Mr Eric Omondi’s room at Kabete Campus and stole a home theatre, a laptop, several phones and clothes among other items.

In another count, they were accused of deliberately damaging a home theatre valued at Sh50,000 (about US$575).the property of Mr Omondi.

They were also accused of stealing Sh42,000 (about US$483)from Mr Omondi during the incident that occurred on April 11, 2014.

The accused denied all the charges and pleaded with the court to release them on bond so that they can proceed with their studies.

They were released on Sh50,000 (about US$575) bond each until June 3 when the case will be heard.
