$9.5 million budget approved for Ghana’s Black Stars

downloadThe approved  budget for Ghana’s Black Stars for the 2014 World Cup campaign  is $9.5 million, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has confirmed.

Until last Monday’s confirmation, it had been  widely speculated that the GFA had presented a proposed budget of $20 million which had been criticised as “out of the means of an economically challenged country like Ghana.”

However, Mr Nyantakyi said the final figure agreed on was $9.5 million and it was no longer important to discuss that.

“I can confirm to you that, the World Cup budget is about $ 9.5 million so that should no longer be an issue. What we have to do now is to rally behind the team and support them to excel at the World Cup,” Mr Nyatankyi said when he addressed the press conference to announce the Stars provisional squad last Monday.

According to Nyantakyi, the approved budget will take care of  the Stars’ preparations towards the tournament, as well as their participation in the June 12 to July 6 tournament in Brazil.

They are drawn in?Group G with Germany, Portugal and USA.
