Sacked Minister thanks Prez. Mahama

THE OUTGOING Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Abu Kabienbata Kansangabata, has commended President John Mahama for the opportunity to serve in his administration, though under a very short tenure.

According to him, it was a fantastic experience to serve the chiefs and people of his home region under very challenging circumstances which he said updated his wealth of knowledge in public service as well as his political life.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the DAILY GUIDE on Monday, Mr Kasambata disclosed that he was down-hearted over his removal but remains as a staunch member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and would work wherever he finds himself to achieve the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’.

According to him, since it is the sole prerogative of the President in accordance with the Constitution to appoint and dismiss which could be equated to the duties of a football coach, “I cannot begrudge the President for relieving me of my duties in the region.”

He indicated that he has enough faith in the President to deliver his best  to the people of the country, adding  that he is willing and ready at all times to serve the President in other capacities should the opportunity avail itself.

The former Deputy Minister commended the chiefs and people of the region for the support extended to him while in office and urged them to do same to the incoming minister in order to accelerate development in the region.

Abu Kabienbata Kansangabata, a former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nadowli, was very instrumental in the NDC’s fortunes in the 2012 general elections and was subsequently elevated to the position of Deputy Regional Minister when President Mahama was sworn into office early 2013.

Over the weekend however in accordance with Article 79(1) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, the President nominated Dr Musheibu Mohammed Alfa of the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation as the new Deputy Minister for Upper West Region.

Sources however revealed that Abu Kabienbata Kansangabata, a supposed darling boy of the President is likely to be reassigned to another ministry or be attached to the Presidency at the Flagstaff House as one of the many aides.
