The late senior Presidential Advisor, Paul Victor Obeng will be buried on August 15, 2014 at his hometown Adansi Kokere in the Ashanti Region.
He would be laid close to his late mother, family members informed President John Mahama, at the Flagstaff House, Tuesday.
Family head, Nana Akwasi Asumang, sister to the late statesman, Charlotte Abakah along with a representative of Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II took the president through the funeral arrangements.
The family explained that the August 15 date was chosen in order that the funeral of the late chairman of the National Development Planning Organisation will be organised in a peaceful and more sombre atmosphere.
By that date the World Cup would have ended and the jubilation that comes with such event would have subsided, the family stressed.
The date was also said to be convenient for the Asantehene and Catholic Bishops, all of whom have pledged to be part of the funeral ceremony.
President John Mahama said a state burial will be accorded the statesman who has been pivotal in the development of the country.
The Asantehene, through his representative also requested for the body of PV Obeng after the state funeral before it will be taken to his hometown for burial, Multi TV’s Gifty Andoh Appiah reported.
The late PV Obeng died last month in what is said to be an asthma attack. He was 67.
