Chief of Aboadze says T3 plant won’t work; gods there are angry

3911606505409_4400670006871The chief of Aboadze says the T3 power plant in the area would never work until government makes the necessary sacrifices to appease the gods there.

The T3 power plant is a 132 megawatt combined cycle gas turbine, valued at 250 million dollars which was financed with a loan from the Canadian government.

It has currently been shut down for repairs.

But speaking to Radio Maxx in Takoradi the chief, Nana Kwabena Attom, pointed out that the plant has suffered several setbacks in its operations because government failed to consult the people, which he said, was a sign of disrespect for their culture.

With an angry tone, the chief stated: “We were not consulted before they started construction. They just brought an excavator and started digging and digging, filled it and built the plant on it. Approximately three months after the commissioning by the president, the plant suffered a breakdown.”

He said the officials at the Volta River Authority were invited for a meeting and the reason for the plant’s breakdown was explained to them.

“We requested for a small building to be constructed, pump water into it and then move the god into it. It is done everywhere but we were snubbed and told the proposal would be forwarded to Accra for approval. The total estimate was only GH?1,200 but VRA did not pay and I promise you, that the plant you see there will never work,” he stressed.
