Fake teachers dismissed in Goaso

The Goaso Municipal Education Directorate in the Brong Ahafo Region has dismissed 40 teachers for using fake certificates to teach in the municipality.
The teachers are said to have been teaching in the municipality for three years now.
The Municipal Director of Education, Jonas Yeboah Yelboureri said the abysmal performance of students in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for the last three years prompted the Municipal Education Oversight Committee to investigate the qualification of the teachers which led to the revelation.
According to reports, the directorate suspected 90 teachers but after investigations, 40 were found to have edited, printed and photocopied their own certificate or had impersonated others.
Mr Yelbuoureri said: “After using fake certificates to secure jobs for three years now, we have given them dismissal letters to go home while investigations continue.”
