Prez Mahama should check his wife, otherwise… – Editor of the Informer Newspaper

120810115549-john-atta-mills-mahama-horizontal-galleryBehind every successful man is a woman; and behind the actions that are going to bring President John Dramani Mahama’s government down, is a woman he is married to, so claims a self-confessed sympatizer of the ruling party. This observation made by the Editor of the Informer Newspaper when he spoke to Peace FM in an interview, during the station’s Midday Bulletin, regarding alleged poking of nose activities Ghana’s First Lady is engaged in.

According to Andy Kankam, his trusted sources at the seat of the Presidency, have informed him that the 1st lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama continues to pile unnecessary pressure on senior ministers who are not availing themselves to be manipulated.

He revealed, quoting his sources, that the President’s wife was constantly seeking favors which cannot be fulfilled by the unnamed ministers.

The Informer, in its Tuesday, July 9th Edition, published under a screaming headline; “Alleged Interference By First Lady…Five Ministers To Resign“.

According to the publication, “the ministers who will soon walk out of the Mahama-Amissah Arthur administration have persistently knocked on their doors, alleging of how they have been under incessant pressure by Ghana’s First Lady, for completely non-existing favours“.

The newspaper reported that asked what these purported favours are, one said “they claim they have been under constant bombardment from the First Lady’s office for contracts, when there are none”.

“We have also forwarded to the attention of the President, similar allegations made against the office of the First lady, as regards how ministers of State continue to express their frustrations of such demands with hope that something urgent is done about the situation; even though, for now, it is an allegation”, another high-ups at the Flagstaff House told The Informer.

They also cited the unnecessary interference on the part of the First Lady with regards to who serve in the current regime, and have been deciding to reign when the dust settles a little; since competency is being sacrificed for mediocrity’, this source added.

Quite interesting, “The Enquirer” newspaper, another Accra daily, with strong leanings to the ruling party, also published a similar story in its Tuesday edition headlined “Governance Blues; Mahama In Trouble…5 Cabinet Ministers To Resign…First Lady In Alleged Interference

Andy Kankam, who declined to name either his sources or the ministers likely to tender in their resignation letters to PeaceFM, however stated that “these people involved are key to the governance process of this country- and I trust my sources. The president has already promised to fight corruption even if it comes in a form of allegation against his administration. This is a litmus test for the president and the presidency to do something about what has been said”.

He further stated that if the report turns out to be true, President Mahama’s administration would rather be the loser in the final analysis.
