Abandoned Baby Rescued From KVIP in Tema Comm 1, Site 1

The dawn of 12-12-12 had a very pathetic story for the residents of Tema Community 1, Site 1. As the residents in their usual routine queue to use the toilet facility, this dawn greeted them with a live baby dumped in the cesspit.

The female side of the KVIP was where the live baby was abandoned in one of the pits. In a loud shout, ‘sirening’ people’s attention to the situation, the ladies who were waiting in turn to use the facility called the attention of the residents to the gory situation.

Not for the intervention of Sound Engineer Awal Alhassan known in showbiz as Possi Gee’s brother Sulemanu, the baby would have died from suffocation. He dipped his hands into the pit to take out the baby which had the entire placenta together as it was lying in the faeces awaiting ‘saviour’ Sulemanu.

Possi Gee’s mother, Hajia Amama seeing the frantic situation hurriedly took the male child home to bath it when during the cleanse, the baby busted into loud cry signaling its survival. Frankly, all those present doubted the survival of the child but presently, it is receiving treatment at Tema General Hospital.

Awal’s Children of the Future Foundation (ACOTF), a Possi Gee initiative has pledged to take up the upkeep of the baby. As to the name to be given to the baby, Possi Gee laughed and added that “I will outdoor the baby soon with its name so keep fingers crossed”.

Suspicion is that, the bearer of the aborted baby might have been a teenager. To the rescuing family, may Allah bless you abundantly and as you receive a new entrant into the family, may he bring blessings.
