MUSIGA to demonstrate against economic hardship

Obour-MUSIGA-PresidentThe Musician Union of Ghana, (MUSIGA) is planning to join the demonstration being put together by organised labour against the economic hardship that has befallen the country in recent times.

As an affiliate of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), members of the Union will join other associations of the Congress to embark on the demonstration scheduled Thursday, 24th July, 2014.

Organised labour is demonstrating their frustration against the hikes in petroleum prices and high cost of living in the country. It is also dismayed at the rapid fall of the value of the Cedi. It maintains that, the current pricing formula for fuel punishes consumers and must be reviewed.

According to the council, the ex-pump prices of premium and LPG have been increased by 28.08% respectively. These increases are said to have far-reaching effects on prices of a wide-range of goods and services.

A petition is expected to be sent to the government through the Minister of Employment and Labour relations.
