AFRIMMA Awards: Sarkodie, DJ Black and Fuse ODG make Ghana proud (FULL LIST)

sarkodie-dj-black-open-house-partyGhana’s number one DJ and host of Open House Party on Joy FM, DJ Black has been adjudged Africa’s Best DJ at the 2014 Africa Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).

DJ Black, born Kwadwo Ampofo, beat off stiff competition from DJ Jimmy Jatt (Nigeria), DJ Exclusive (Nigeria), DJ Joe Mfalme (Kenya), DJ Cndo (South Africa), DJ Creme de la Creme (Kenya), and DJ Shiru (Uganda) to win the prestigious award.

The 2014 AFRIMMA came off at the Eisemann Center in Texas Saturday night.

African Muzik Magazine Awards is a sole award ceremony in the Diaspora that caters for all musical genres including, Afrobeats, Assiko, Bongo, Decale, Funana, Genge, Highlife, Hiplife, Kwaito, Lingala and Soukous.

The awards also creates a platform to promote the diversity of African music by bringing influential artists from different African countries for a night of celebration.

Ghana’s fastest rapper Sarkodie won Best Rap Act but lost out on the night’s biggest award, Artiste of the Year to Nigerian musician, Davido. Davido also won the Best Male West Africa.

Ghanaian songstress Efya lost out on the Best Female Artiste West Africa to Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage while Shatta Wale and Samini also lost out on the Best Dancehall Artiste to Timaya from Nigeria.

Ghanaian-born Afrobeat sensation Fuse ODG won Best Male Artiste (Diaspora).

The awards show, hosted by beautiful Ghanaian actress Juliet Ibrahim and Nigerian comedian Basketmouth, witnessed exciting performances from Iyanya, Davido, Stanley Enow and a host of others.
