Outspoken NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has expressed regret for campaigning and voting for the party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong.
He has therefore warned both the Chairman of the party, Paul Afoko, and the General Secretary that if the current impasse and confusion continue the members will remove them from office through a vote of no confidence.
Speaking Wednesday on Adom Fm/ Asempa Fm’s Burning issues programme Hon Agyapong said he is surprised at Kwabena Agyapong’s management style and attitude, especially in taking decisions without consulting other party executives.
“I’m so disappointed in Kwabena, he is a very smart gentleman but I don’t know what has come over him. He is finished, I swear to you. If he continues like this, he will not last even six months in office” he bemoaned.
The party’s headquarters was the scene of mayhem on Tuesday, when unknown men wielding machetes and sticks stormed it, threatening to lynch Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong over the alleged unilateral appointment of Deputy Communication Directors and other concerns.
The NPP firebrand described the duo as ‘not indispensable’, adding that he is getting too frustrated as he looks on whiles the funds he pumps into the party goes down the drain.
“Anytime you see Alan’s group contributing to the party, its just to destroy the party, but we will not give them chance, why! Kwabena can’t do “FOKO”; Paul Afoko can’t do s**! We are not afraid of anybody; let them try” he exclaimed.
He said the party followers will not allow any selfish leader or member to destroy the party and threatened to “leave the party for them” if this continues.
“I’m tired, I’m sick of Kwabena Agyapong. I can’t defend him again, I will use the same way I campaigned for him to kick him out. I don’t know where he gets his influence from; he has goofed this time” he stressed.
The MP warned that if the recent confusion allegedly orchestrated by the GS is to prevent Nana Akufo-Addo from becoming flagbearer, “I swear he won’t last in office, we will decide their fate. I want to tell Kwabena Agyapong and Paul Afoko that they are not gods.”
He blamed the Alan/Nana Addo factionalism in the party as the cause of the current confusion, and accused the party elders of failing to address those issues thoroughly.
The Assin Central MP has also warned Nana Addo’s supporters against undermining the rest of the executives, pointing out that they equally stand to lose if the current confusion continues.
