People are suffering too much under Mahama – Dr Bawumia

Mahamudu_Bawumia_01Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, running mate for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo has described as “needless” the current suffering by Ghanaians under President John Mahama’s administration.

He made the comments after Nana Akufo-Addo officially named him as his right hand man ahead of the 2016 general elections.

“The suffering that the people are going through under the administration of the current government is quite needless and we believe quite strongly that with the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo we can make a positive change,” he stated.

Nana Akufo-Addo made the announcement on Thursday after he met with the party’s Council members justifying why Bawumia is the suitable partner.

Nana Akufo-Addo explained that “I have been very lucky to have Mahamudu by my side since 2008. His credentials as top notch economist were always known to all and have been reinforced by his analytical work and performance in this sector in the past five years earning him the sobriquet of Dr Prophet.”

This is the third time Nana Akufo-Addo has named Dr Bawumia as his running mate.

Dr  Bawumia in his acceptance speech said; “I hope to assist him in delivering this vision to the country and to usher in an NPP administration under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo.”

“There is work to do, this country is going through quite turbulent times and we need a change and I believe this is why Nana Addo has nominated me to partner him to bring a different vision, a different way of doing things to bring a vision, dedication, competence and integrity to the governance of this country,” he indicated.

He however used the opportunity to thank the rank and file of the NPP saying “this has been a collective effort and whatever successes I’ve chalked politically in the NPP has been as a result the collective efforts of all the rank and file of the party.”
