Akufo-Addo will inherit a bankrupt Ghana if he wins 2016 – Political Science Lect.

Nana Akufo-AddoHead of the Political Science Department of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Professor Richard Amoako Baah has professed that Nana Akufo-Addo’s choice of Dr. Bawumia as his running mate is a perfect pair considering the fact that the country needs its economic situation transformed.According to the Political Science Lecturer, Ghana is in a critical time as the economy is getting worse every day under the President Mahama-led administration; adding that the country requires diligent and hard working leadership to address the economic woes.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Professor Amoako Baah hinted that the economy of the country has deteriorated to the extent that the government under President Mahama has tampered with the funds meant for pensioners to pay salaries.

He however reminded the economic team of President Mahama seeking for International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout to include the debts owed the pensioners after their funds have been used to pay salaries.

He added that the government should be bold enough to tell the aggrieved workers unions who are on strike that the funds meant for their pensions have rather been used to pay salaries due to the economic situation in the country.

With a word of caution to politicians, Professor Amoako Baah said the country is not run with talking but rather requires diligent and hard work from the government in office to perform, stressing propaganda is not the best tool to use at the moment since the country is struggling to survive.

He concluded that the country is in bankruptcy and that Nana Akufo- Addo and Dr. Bawumia will suffer from the situation should the NPP win the 2016 elections.

“Right now, if Nana Akufo-Addo wins 2016 elections, he is going to inherit a country which is bankrupt. Government is voted into office to perform and not to talk; we don’t run a country with talking but diligent and hard work. I will remind the President’s economic team seeking for bailout at IMF to include the funds meant for pensioners but had been used to pay salaries; so that the funds can be paid to the workers unions,” he asserted.
