Boyfriend commits suicide

the-endA 29-year-old man at Wassa Adiembra near Wasa Akropong in the Western Region, has allegedly killed himself after suspecting that his 26-year-old girl friend was cheating on him.

The incident occurred on Saturday, November 1, 2014.

The deceased, Nyatorgu Grumah, an illegal miner (galamsey operator), allegedly hanged himself when he suspected that his girl friend, Abena Gifty, also a galamsey operator, was going out with another man.

ASP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed this toDAILY GUIDE in an interview.

She maintained that the deceased allegedly hanged himself with an electric wire in an uncompleted building at Wassa Adiembra.

She indicated that Grumah had a series of confrontations with the girl friend over his suspicion.

The PRO indicated that on the day of the incident Grumah visited the girl friend at her house in the area.

While there, the deceased purportedly heard the girl talking to a man on phone and so he became angry and left her house.

ASP Adiku said at about 10:00 pm on the same day, a friend of the deceased, one James Sonir, went to check on him at his house but could not find him.

Upon a search later, the friend found Grumah hanging in an uncompleted building.

James Sonir then raised an alarm and people who went to the scene later called to inform the police.

ASP Adiku said no marks of violence were found on the deceased and that the body was taken to the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital for autopsy.

She pointed out that investigations into the case were ongoing.
