Chelsea the least of my worries – Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that he has “different worries” than being concerned about Chelsea’s progress at the top of the table.

After the midweek draw with Anderlecht, the Gunners were again guilty of throwing away points against Swansea City on Sunday as goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bafetimbi Gomis secured a 2-1 win for the hosts at the Liberty Stadium.

The result leaves Arsenal 12 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea although Wenger is more concerned with winning games than worrying about Chelsea and their lead at the top.

He told Sky Sports: “At the moment we have different worries than that. We just lost a game that we feel we shouldn’t have lost. We have to live in a realistic world, in football you have to win the games you can win and today was one. If you want to challenge for the Premier League, you have to be a bit more realistic than we were today.”

Quizzed over the reasons his side lost to Swansea from a winning position, Wenger added: “We had the lead, it’s difficult to explain how we lost the lead because we were in control.

“You could see that they didn’t give up and I felt we lost some decisive challenges in the middle of the park in the last 20 minutes and we paid for that. That’s where we lost the battle.

“We were not in too much trouble and we had the best chances. It’s a place where it’s always tight, it was a very tactical game and I felt when we were 1-0 up we lacked some spark and killer instinct to win it. They didn’t give up and we couldn’t get the second goal.”
