10173662_757544114281556_5001090596033555859_nYou can pretend you haven’t recognized her but take it or leave it, when the Miss Malaika passes by you, you will rubberneck to have a glimpse of the person you only saw on TV and she as well is aware there are more eye balls on her than previously. This restricts her as a human and makes her act in all her endeavours. Eirene Nsudoon Binabiba, 2014 Miss Malaika narrates the ‘migraine’ of being a beauty queen.

Speaking to Eboo on the Green Lounge on Empire 102.7 in Takoradi, Eirene said winning the crown has brought on her absurd pressure which has truncated her previous life activities especially on campus and in public. Asking her if she could still do what she used to do, Eirene said “oh no, there are certain things I can’t do now. My waakye place, I can’t just walk there and buy my normal waakye I do. They have this bush canteen behind my department in school where I used to go and buy food, after the whole thing, I cannot walk there and buy my normal food I used to buy all the time, so that’s the change.”

According to her, “people are receiving me very good, it has been really well and I love the attention that brings it with because anywhere that I go people are like oh that is the Miss Malaika girl and people stare at me, people come to me and ask me you are the Malaika girl, congrats, you’ve done so well. I love the attention and the impact that I’m bringing to people’s lives.”

Miss Eirene, who is on a campaign to create awareness of how to keep the environment clean said she will be donating to orphanages and embark on other projects.

Green Lounge hosted by Kwabena Adisi alias Eboo airs on Empire 102.7 FM (Takoradi) every Saturday 1 – 4 PM.
