Reliable information indicates that embattled Hip-life Rapper Kwaw Kese on Thursday refused an official visit by an entourage from Kumasi-based Luv FM.
Kwaw, has been handed a two-week prison remand for using a narcotic drug without lawful authority. He was arrested Saturday night while smoking a substance suspected to be cannabis in public in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
Kwaw, who has been in detention at the Kumasi Central Prisons since Monday November 24, reportedly refused to grant audience to management of the radio station led by its General Manager Mr. Jim Aglah. According to a source inside the prisons, Kwaw Kese nearly hit the roof when he was informed management of Luv FM was there to see him.
“He angrily said no! He doesn’t want to see anybody from Luv FM. He said he doesn’t trust them because they are traitors and snitches,” the source said.
LuvFM’s management, numbering about six, including the station’s General Manager, News Editor, Marketing Manager, Human Resource Manager, Reporter Erasmus and a representative from Multi TV were, astonished at Kwaw behavior but had no choice than to leave without seeing ‘the man insane’.
It is unclear why the “Abodam” crooner, who has had friends and loved ones coming over to see how he is faring, refused a visit from Luv FM staff and even went as far as asking the prison authorities not to grant any employee from the station the request to see him.
But Peacefmonline.com painstaking investigations reveal that Kwaw is still riled at the conduct of LuvFM’s management for leaving him out in the cold.
The controversial rapper was invited by the radio station to perform at their Old Skul Reunion event and his unfortunate arrest happened moments after he rocked the stage at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
According to the source, management of Luv FM have not shown Kwaw Kese any support or solidarity since his arrest on Saturday November 22. Additionally, no member of the station has even tried to find out the well-being of the rapper nor communicated with any member of the MadTime Entertainment team, the record label he (Kwaw) is signed onto, the source revealed.
The source also disclosed to Peacefmonline.com that Kwaw considers LuvFM as traitors because after inviting him to perform, the Kumasi-based radio station were first to broadcast news of his unfortunate arrest in the media and actually discussed the incident on their network a couple of hours after his arrest.
Peacefmonline can also confirm that the “Matsewo Kwakwa” rap artiste has been shown some social media messages on one of Luv FM’s WhatsApp platforms categorically stating that, they (Luv FM) can take advantage of his arrest to generate more listenership for the station.
General Manager of Luv FM, Mr. Jim Aglah confirmed to Peacefmonline.com that indeed an entourage from the station tried paying a visit to Kwaw Kese today but were unsuccessful.
“Yes! That is true we went there as a management team. I was there together with a couple of my team members and the intention was to show support and concern because as a radio station, we work with artistes and this is not the first time we have worked with Kwaw Kese on different programs. We invited him on this occasion to perform at the Old Skulz Reunion, which he did and after the event he found himself in this unfortunate situation. So it was only proper to pay him a visit,” he stated.
He further recounted that when they got there “Kwaw Kese said he wasn’t in the right frame mind to receive visitors and we are okay with that because I think he was acting within his rights to refuse or accept visitors and we cannot begrudge him for that. We just wish him well”.
Asked if he believes Kwaw Kese refusal to see them was because he feels embittered, Mr Aglah replied; “Why would he be bitter? We had a contract, he performed, he closed and went his way and he got involved in trouble. We didn’t push him there so i don’t see why he would feel embittered”.
Meanwhile, scores of people in Kumasi including Radio Presenters, Musicians, legal practitioners, Politicians among others have been paying visits to the “Odeim” rapper since Monday when he was taken into prison custody and more keep trooping in. Rapper Sarkodie and Music producer Edward Opoku aka Hammer of the Last Two also flew from Accra to pay him a visit on Tuesday.
The “Eye Nonsense” rapper appeared in court on Monday November 24, he is scheduled to reappear on December 8.
