Prez. Mahama’s plane breaks down

downloadPresident John Mahama has confirmed that his official jet developed a technical fault which caused his late attendance to the 30th National Farmers Day celebrations in the Western Region.

The President and his entourage arrived in Sefwi Wiawso around 1pm after the event had begun two hours earlier.

The event which was scheduled to begin at 10 am started an hour later due to the President’s delay.

In his address to the gathering, President Mahama apologized for his late arrival with the explanation that “we had a technical problem with the plane that we were coming with.”

He said he and his entourage were made to “disembark and wait till another plane was secured to bring us and so let me express my apologies for the late start.”

The 2014 National Farmers Day celebration marks 30 years since the event was instituted by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

71 farmers and fishermen were awarded at the event for their outstanding contribution to the development of the agricultural sector in Ghana.
