Black Stars forward Asamoah Gyan has received a two-match ban for a foul committed in last season’s Asian Champions League.
The player was red carded by referee Ravshan Irmatov for the two-footed scissor tackle on Salem Aldawsari but after a review of the offence, the Ghanaian was given further punishment.
The incident occurred during the last 20 minutes of the knockout stages of the Asian Champions League when Al-Ain faced Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia.
Gyan said afterwards that the foul was in retaliation to a distasteful comment made by Hilal’s Romanian player Mihai Pintilii during the match.
Gyan will miss his team’s next match against Al-Wahda on Wednesday 10th December, 2014.
