The New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Kwaku Owusu Acheampong has justified the toilet roll and Joy Dadi bitters awarded some farmers at the National Farmers’ Day held last Friday in the Eastern Region.

Addressing a news conference on Wednesday in Koforidua, Dr Acheampong said “…after all, the farmers; don’t they take Joy Dadi bitters? Don’t they use toilet roll? What is wrong with us giving them T-roll and Joy bitters?”

Speaking further in an interview on Thursday’s edition of ‘Kokrokoo’, Dr Acheampong said the Joy Dadi bitters and the toilet roll were just ‘top-up’ gifts that were donated by some philanthropists.

Describing the journalists who reported the issue as ‘unprofessional’, he insisted that the farmers were awarded with other special gifts such as cutlasses.

“I don’t know why the journalists decided to pick only that side in their reportage…other items such as certificates, boots, cutlasses, tricycles, herbicides and bicycles were part of the items awarded the farmers” he indicated.
