Politics of insults has become the order of Ghanaian Politics recently. On Political Party Rallies, insults are the least that would be heard as others cross the road of insults to even curse the party members on the other side. Politics of insults is known mostly with the masculine politicians of Ghana but it has veined down to the females too.
27th March, 2012 will hardly escape the reminisces of people who look up to Frances Esiem, the ‘Obaatanpa’ who is fighting to represent the people of Adenta, and Anita De Souza, loudest female voice in National Democratic Congress’ (NDC). Is it not a shame to see mothers exchange unfriendly words on National Television? Anita De Souza, whose statement started the brawl by calling Frances Esiam a traitor and betrayer, for having enjoyed from the Woyome coffers and lambasting him afterwards, ignited the black side of Frances Esiem.
The former flag waver for National Democratic Congress and now a diehard New Patriotic Party mogul, Frances Esiem, known on her posters and billboard in and around Adenta as ‘OBAATANPA’ went ‘OBAATANBONE’ on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana when she could not control the panting breathe which was caused by her colleague politician, ‘Stubborn’ Anita De Souza. This resulted in Frances Abena Esiam reciprocating Anita’s words by calling her a prostitute. Truncating the Morning show due to Randy Abbey’s incapability to moderate the go-bush ‘mentors’ of the country, the two did not end there as sources at the station’s premises disclosed that, the insults turned more explicit. Frances Abena Esiem as ‘OBAATANPA’ as every mother is known to be will give this advice to her child who is entering the Senior High School for the first time; “Comport yourself well. Don’t go and cause any trouble, even if it is the other person’s fault, just ignore it and refrain from activities that will tint my image”. Anita De Souza, who is also grown enough to mother a first child of at least 22 years will also give this advice to her child who has been separated from a fight with a friend at the play ground; “This should be your first and last time you will indulge in this. Mummy has a reputation to protect; I trained you better than this”. These two who are reputation conscious because of their echelon in the country, have dragged their hard earned names through the ‘Kwame Nkrumah Circle Gutters’. Frances Abena ‘Obaatanpa’ Esiem and Anita De Souza should on the same platform where they went into their toddler stages apologize to the whole Ghana for denigrating the image of Ghanaian Politics globally. SHAME ON YOU ANITA DE SOUZA! SHAME ON YOU FRANCES ABENA ESIEM!
