Born Fredrick Essuman, PH1 coined his stage name (PH1) from his name which he spells in the American style, Phreddy. PH therefore is a shortened Phreddy and he adds the 1 to it. PH1 grew up at Komkomlele and attended St. Andrews Primary School in Sekondi. He then proceeded to the Panama Junior High School in Accra and then to HAC Institute which he graduated with hardware and micro tech city and guild certificate. After Hac Institute, PH1 proceeded to Nautica College, then to Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders.
