President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday, January 01, will join other world leaders in Brasilia for the inauguration of Dilma Rousseff as President of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
It will be President Rousseff’s second term as President of Latin America’s largest economy and a growing business and trade partner of Ghana.
The three-part inaugural programme will include the constitutional swearing-in of the re-elected President, a Presidential Address after the swearing-in and a Presidential Dinner for the invited Heads of Delegation.
President Mahama is attending the inauguration personally as a sign of the growing cooperation between Ghana and Brazil over the last few years. The Latin American country is supporting Ghana in the development of some critical infrastructure projects including roads and airports, and has also been influential in the social protection and development programmes of the government.
While in Brasilia, President Mahama will hold a number of bilateral discussions with other world leaders attending the ceremony, and is expected back home on Saturday January 03, 2015.
