A 19-foot python was killed over the weekend at Kansaworodo near Takoradi in the Western Region.

A group of young people in the locality were reported to have killed the huge reptile at a nearby bush along a footpath at about 10pm on Saturday.

According to sources, the people in the farming community had for some time now been suspecting the presence of the python as they had been hearing some unusual noise in that area.

They alleged that it was the largest python ever to be captured in the area.

According to reports, the youth were loitering about in the bush when they saw part of the snake sticking out.

The guys reportedly grabbed the snake around its neck and dragged it out into the middle of the road.

At a point the python was said to have attempted to coil itself around the leg of one of the guys, however, he took out a knife and killed the python.

They indicated that the killing of the python was a notable accomplishment they had recorded in the area.

The elders were grateful to the youth for courageously killing such a huge reptile.
