The driver legitimately parked at a bus stop under the Achimota overpass that leads to the new station and picked up passengers.
But he was stopped at the bus stop opposite the old station and asked to turn around the vehicle to the new station.
The drama that ensured was captured by Graphic Online last Friday.
Passengers aboard the vehicle protested and insisted they were late for work.
The AMA men asked the driver to pay GH?50 before the car would be released.
The driver paid GH?40 but the men were adamant and insisted on collecting an extra GH?10.
“We don’t collect GH?40. Top it up,” one of them said.
He even attempted to seize the key from the driver.
For about 15 minutes, the car stopped and passengers who were sitting in front were ordered to find space at the back, the men then took over the space.
Irritated by the time being wasted, one of the passengers even asked the driver to move the car to a police station.
“As for you people, you’re always afraid. That is why the drivers take advantage of you. Let him take you to court,” the passenger said in Twi.
Others added their voice to the call on the driver to move the car.
The agitations appeared to have tickled the nerve of the taskforce members who dared the passengers to come and move the car.
“Any of you who think he is strong should come and open the door,” the man demanding the money said.
To add more bite to what his colleague said, another taskforce member turned around to face the passengers to repeat the demand.
They collected the money and did not issue a receipt before the driver was allowed to go.
