Prez. Mahama warned over Martin Amidu’s life

The PNF made this known in a press statement it released yesterday in Accra and copied to the DAILY GUIDE in reaction to Mr Amidu’s recent claims that certain government machineries were targeting his life for daring to continuously speak up on issues of corruption in the country, particularly the Woyome saga.

Mr Amidu had particularly mentioned the sacked National Security Coordinator, Lt Col Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (rtd), who he alleged had threatened him over the Woyome’s saga which caused a great financial loss to the state to the tune of GH¢51.28 million.

It expressed gross disappointment with the manner in which Lt Col Gbevlo-Lartey has being acting towards Mr Amidu over the issue.

It added that “it is obvious from their public discourse that Mr Gbevlo Lartey used his former position to intimidate and actually arrest the former Attorney General. This capricious use of state power and force should not be tolerated by the good people of Ghana.”

Ever since Mr Woyome was acquitted and discharged by a court presided over by Justice John Ajet-Nassam, there has been a large public outcry over the judgment, with many saying the government had colluded with Woyome to defraud the state. President Mahama has, however, surprisingly kept mute over the issue.

The PNF is, however, asking him (Mahama) to come clear over the issue and state his position on “Martin Amidu’s accusations against his government colluding with Woyome to defraud the state and then turning round to play political gymnastics with a supposed suit.”

“Martin Amidu and Mr Woyome have both accused highly placed personalities in President Mahama’s government of either being aware or being part of this grand collusion to create, loot and share our monies. Such personalities include former Chief of staff, John Henry Martey Newman, deputies Alex Segbefia and Dr Valarie Sawyer, Betty Mould Iddrisu, former Attorney General, Barton Oduro, Deputy Speaker of Parliament. What steps has the president taken since these revelations, to inquire from these persons their involvement?” the PNF quizzed.
