A stunning student who walked naked down the freezing streets of Russia in protest over the cost of living under Vladimir Putin has become an internet sensation.
Liana Klevtsova wore nothing but a pair of red stilettos as she posed outside a bank, filling up her car at a petrol station and riding a bus in her home city.
Images of the 19-year-old, baring all during the bitter Siberian winter for the campaign against Putin’s financial policies, have gone viral. In the shots, the aspiring catwalk model is pictured outside a branch of Sberbank holding a passport and papers with the caption ‘I’ve paid off my mortgage’.
In another still, she is pictured fully nude filling up her large off-road car next to a man who is semi-clothed, filling up his smaller car. Liana appeared in three adverts protesting against high mortgage rates, spiralling fuel costs and extortionate travel expenses on public transport in the country.
The blonde beauty, who once graced the cover of Vogue magazine, was fully fronting the Golaya Pravda (Naked Truth) campaign. She told the Siberian Times: “We wanted to send this positive message to people that nothing can bring us down, and the contrast of winter and naked body, we had to show it.
“People are not ready to fight to lower fuel prices. It’s easier for them to buy a smaller car.” The average monthly wage in Putin’s Russia is just 25,000 roubles – £300. The protest group is angry about annual mortgage rates in the country, which have risen to up to 18 per cent, and rising petrol prices, which currently exceed 40 roubles (35p) per litre.
