South Africa housemate in Big Brother Africa raped

9958164049726_9936685339237There is a huge public uproar in South Africa after a female housemate was raped on live TV in the ongoing Big Brother South Africa (Big Brother Mzansi) reality show.

The incident has forced the organizers of the show, produced by Endemol SA for Mzansi Magic on DStv, to expel the male housemate, Siyanda Ngwenya (Adam), who committed the offence and also the victim, Bexx (Axola Mbengo).

Inside sources told Myjoyonline.com, “Adams has been expelled from the Big Brother house for misconduct. Another housemate, Bexx, has been removed for her own wellbeing. Both these contestants have been debriefed by the resident psychologist. Their partners have been given the option to remain in the competition.”

Big Brother formally announced the decision to the rest of the housemates Monday night.

Myjoyonline.com’s investigations reveal that Adam is alleged to have raped Bexx Saturday night while she was completely drunk and had no control of her senses. The two housemates had been seen several times flirting on the show.

Sources say Adam lied about the incident when Bexx queried him on Sunday. He said nothing happened but he is alleged to have told another housemate that he had sex with her.

The incident has caused a huge uproar on twitter with many calling for the cancelation of the show which kicked off on March 22, 2015.

Some individuals are asking how producers could let a housemate be raped if Big Brother is always watching as they claim.

The Big Brother reality show has for years now been hit by outrage for its matured content and allegations that it promotes nudity and deviant behaviour.

Dubbed ‘Double Trouble’, the housemates entered this year’s 56-day reality show in pairs. Alex entered the show with Tembi (Tembela Magandela-Mthupha) while Bexx entered the house with Soxx (Sokhana Ralane).

With Alex and Bexx out of the reality show, Tembi and Soxx were given the option to remain in the house, which they accepted. They will now form a pair.

Read some twitter reactions to the incident below:

I’m an AFRICAN: No one deserves to be raped, as much as no guy deserves to be accused of rape, that could destroy his life man #BBMzansi

TeeRock: Bexx n Adams were always seen flirting with each ada. But DAT doesn’t justify taking advantage of a drunk gal n even lie to her #BBMzansi

Don: I don’t think the crew at #BBMzansi will just watch someone commit a crime without interfering?

Keshia Campbell: But I’ve been saying #BBMzansi must be taken off TV now there’s rape allegations!!! All #BBMzansi promotes is SEX!

Manina Nkuta: Oh wow, a woman gets violated on national television and people are calling her names?? I’m at a loss for words #bbmzansi
