Nana Addo negotiating with Papa Kwasi Nduom?

thumb.aspxThe new Patriotic Party ( NPP) wants to make sure that the third and final attempt by Nana Akufo-Addo to become the President is a successful one.

To this end, the party has formed a small committee to find ways and means to ensuring that Nana benefits from the support base of the smaller Political parties.

A credible source within the committee told the Daily Dispatch, that so far it has succeeded in planting ‘political landmines’ in the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and the Peoples National Convention (PNC).

He explained, “The main plan is to ensure that we influence as much as possible, to get persons in these two parties who would prefer us to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be elected at the various levels, in particular at the constituency; regional and national. This will put us in a strong position should the parties decide to support one of the big parties, the NPP will be the obvious choice.”

He admitted that the biggest hurdle in dealing with the smaller parties regards the Progressive people’s Party (PPP), and its 2012 presidential candidate, Dr. Papa Kwasi Nduom. He said members of the Committee have been talking to close associates of Dr. Nduom and giving us an update.

It appears Dr. Nduom and the PPP were not indisagreement with them supporting the NPP in the event of a presidential run-off.

He sighed as he continued: “It seems asking the PPP and Dr. Nduom to support the NPP in the first round of the 2016 presidential elections will be very difficult. Advisors of Dr. Nduom, believe that should the party decide to support the NPP in the first round, it would mean the virtual death of the PPP.”

In the 2012 presidential elections, President John Mahama had 50.7% (5,574,761 votes); Nana Akufo-Addo – 47.74% (5,248,898 votes) and Dr. Nduom – 0.59% (64,362 votes).
