Office of the President has 692 employees

flagstaff-houseThe Office of the President  had 692 employees from January to  December 2014, a report on the staffing position at the office submitted to Parliament  has revealed.

The report shows that there were 14 more people were employed at the presidency compared to year 2013.

The report was released to Parliament  in fulfilment of Section 11 of the Presidential Act 1993, which requires the President to annually submit  a report on the staffing position of the Office of the President  for Parliament’s perusal.The report covered the number of Presidential staff employed at the office of the President during the period, the ranks and grades of these staff and employees of other public services assigned to the office of the President.

Five (5) Ministers of State were at post as of 31st December, 2014 while 24 Presidential Staffers are currently at post at the Office.

Public Service and Civil Service

Employees of the Public Sector Organisations assigned to the Office include Civil Servants of various classes(i.e Administrative, Executive/Clerical, Records, Secretarial, Budget, Supply and Materials Management) Household, Department of Parks and Gardens, Ghana Health Service, Accounting and Data Processing, Audit Service, etc.

The Household Department, for instance has 43 caterers,36 stewards,54 drivers,14 night-watchman, 2 caretakers, 22 sanitary labourers, 3 other labourers and 85 cleaners.

The total number of public  and civil service categories of staff was 668.
