One more person has been arrested in connection with the murder of Adam Mahama, former Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The suspect whose name has been withheld was arrested for abetment of crime.
This brings to two, the number of suspects arrested over his death. The Public Relations officer (PRO) of the Upper East Regional Police Command, ASP Thomas Agbanyo confirmed the arrest to Citi News.
“The other man is still on the run, and we are still following him to get him arrested. So far we have arrested another person in addition to the first one arrested for abetment of crime,” he said.
ASP Agbanyo noted that the suspect “has also been sent to Accra for interrogation but the real suspect mentioned by the deceased has not been arrested so we are still looking for him.”
Adam Mahama was ambushed and attacked with acid last month, leading to his death.
Before his death, he reportedly mentioned names of two persons who poured the acid on him.
This led to the arrest of Gregory Afoko, brother of NPP National Chairman, Paul Afoko, and has subsequently been charged with murder.
According to the Police, the other accomplice upon picking information that the Police were after him bolted with his wife leaving their baby behind.
