Transport fares to go up 15%

news3National Trustee of Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Mr. Kwesi Ansah has hinted that, there will be increment in commercial transport fares.

Speaking to Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson on Jolly Breakfast Show (JBS) on Skyy Power FM in Takoradi, Mr. Ansah said the union has agreed on a 15% increment effective Friday June 19, 2015.

The Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) announced new petroleum prices beginning Tuesday June 16, 2015 and according to the OMCs the new price is the first step towards the full implementation of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA)’s petroleum product price deregulation.

The deregulation policy is expected to allow marketers and importers of petroleum products to set their own prices and bring an end to government subsidy on the commodity.
