Blakk Rasta not free yet – Dep. Majority Leader

blakk-rasta-609x330Reggae musician and radio host, Blakk Rasta is apparently not out of the woods yet, after Deputy Majority Leader, Alfred Agbesi hinted that Parliament is likely to punish him despite an apology from him.

Blakk Rasta was dragged before Parliament’s Privileges Committee for alleging that about 80% of MPs smoke Marijuana (wee).

“His apologies to the committee does not end the matter at all. When the report comes, the report can say that, yes, they have accepted the apology yet it is subject to the final acceptance by the House [Parliament]. So we are waiting for the committees report and I believe the House will take a serious view of what has happened.”

Though Blakk Rasta explained that the comments form part of his advocacy project for wee to be legalised in Ghana, he subsequently apologised.

Alfred Agbesi in a Citi News interview insisted that though Blakk Rasta has apologised for his “wee” comment, the apology will not end the matter.

This, he said, is because Parliament has the final say on the report by the Privileges Committee.

“So people should not jubilate and people should not say that is all that Parliament can do, No! More is to come,”  he warned.

Blakk Rasta told the Committee when he appeared before them last Thursday that he made the comment on the “spur” of the moment and he was also “on heat.”
