Some movie producers in Ghana are threatening to venture into the production of pornographic movies if their grievances are not heard.
The producers are warning that if television stations, who show foreign soaps with explicit scenes, do not desist from the act, they will also start shooting pornographic movies.
The Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Ola Micheals made their intentions known during an interview with Black I on the Daybreak Hitz (Showbiz Review) Show on Hitz FM.
“If we can’t tame the TV stations, let the producers also produce porno movies, and let’s move on,” he said.
According to him, the lack of examination of the content that airs on some Ghanaian television stations is discouraging and is contributing to the proliferation of pornography.
He threatened that if the rules are not checked, he, together with some producers, will start filming pornography films in Ghana.
Ola said, it seems the broadcasting industry has no law governing the industry paving way for television stations to show foreign soaps without editing.
“You look at the kissing and the fondling scenes and ask yourself if I put this thing in our movies will it be allowed,” he quizzed.
The FIPAG PRO went ahead to say that, if half of the things showed on TV were fused into their movies, Ghanaians will give them names such as “soft porn”.
He likened the movie industry to a jungle because everyone is permitted to do what pleases them.
“We should allow it to go on so that people can also make money from porno movies instead of going through poverty.”
Ola further disclosed that, shooting a pornographic movie is less expensive saying “it takes few thousands of cedis to shoot a porn movie and trust me people will watch”
“So producers are also going to start investing in porno,” he concluded.
