IMF lists Ghana as country eligible to receive HIPC assistance

sethGhana has made the list of countries that are eligible to receive assistance under the Highly Indebted Poor Country initiative by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The HIPC Initiative was launched in 1996 by the IMF and World Bank, with the aim of helping poor countries facing a debt burden manage their indebtedness.

Ghana was listed along with 36 countries that includes Afghanistan, Chad, Haiti among others.

According to the Washington-based lender, the listed countries may apply for the HIPC assistance if they wish to do so.
