“Sarkodie Is Slated For 7 Awards” Sarkoholics Assures

In less than 32 hours, Ghana will decide on who deserves to win what and how many of it in the Music Industry. Vodafone will in collaboration with Charter House crown the deserving Artists whose works are very applausive in 2011.

Undisputedly, Ghanaian Artists in contemporary times have raised the ‘marking scheme’ of good music. Talk about Ghanaian Music and many names runs through the mind. From the American States to the European countries, Ghanaian Artists have left incredible prints in the white man’s sands with performances and one name marked with international feature for the past year and two is Sarkodie.

Michael Kwesi Owusu Addo (Sarkodie) can be tipped by many as one Artist who has reached the zenith of Music in the country. Proving this is evident in this year’s awards where he carries a heavy number of 12 nominations. This number had been the topic of discussion on most showbiz platforms in Ghana since the release by Vodafone. Amazingly, in Best Collaboration of The Year category, he is nominated 3 times.

Ardent fans of Sarkodie, a group calling themselves ‘Sarkoholics’ have spoken in loud chorus their expectations for tomorrow’s (14th April, 2012) Awards Night. Asking them how many Sarkodie, their music god, will win in this year’s awards, they went in chorus, “He is winning 7 awards straight”. Gino, one of the members expressed that, he is even expecting more but the assured ones he can bet on are the 7 the group had analytically assessed. Tony without any argument solely gave in to Gino’s remarks.

In a further discussion with the group, Fred , who acted more as the PRO of the group gave the list of the assured take home awards. The lists of categories where the group consider Sarkodie unassailable are:

  1. Artist of the year
  2. Best Rapper of the year
  3. Hip life Artist of the year
  4. Album of the year
  5. Most popular Song of the year
  6. Best Collaboration with Efya- I’m In Love with you
  7. Hip life Song of the year

12-7=5; if the group is talking about 7 awards from the 12 nominations, are they not confident Sarkodie can sweep all the awards but leave the 5 untouched? Gino again answered this question “We can’t be this greedy, we have to leave the rest for others to be proud of their works so we have left it to the rest, they should share”.

Till the night of 14th April, 2012 when Vodafone Ghana Music Awards comes off successfully, these Sarkodie ‘prophets’ have revealed their expectations.
